Album number six from the Sydney crew, self-released on their own Human Warfare imprint and produced once again by Will Putney. Godlike is lean, ten songs in well under 45 minutes, and it does exactly what it says on the tin: mid-paced, groove-heavy deathcore built for festival pits. “Join Me in Armageddon” and “Blood Throne” are the obvious bangers, all chunky stop-start riffs and Jesse Beahler’s pummelling drums, and the title track has the best breakdown on the record.
The problem is that the formula is very familiar by now, and a few tracks in the back half blur together. It’s also impossible to ignore the drama that followed: Chris McMahon was let go a day after release and Tyler Miller’s vocals later replaced his on streaming versions. Either way, solid rather than essential.
