A Wake in Providence formed on Staten Island, New York in 2010 and released two independent EPs, Serpents (2012) and Insidious (2015). Original singer Chris Gonzalez left in 2016, and his replacement was Will Ramos, who later became famous as the frontman of Lorna Shore.
Adam Mercer took over the vocals for the first two albums on Outerloop Records, Insidious: Phase II (2017) and The Blvck Sun || The Blood Moon (2019). After signing with Unique Leader Records, Eternity (2022) brought in full orchestral arrangements, and I Write to You, My Darling Decay followed on 26 July 2024.
It turned out to be Mercer’s last album with the band. His departure was announced in May 2025, and in November 2025 guitarist D’Andre Tyre took over lead vocals, with Christian Mangrum joining on bass.
Current line-up: D’Andre Tyre (vocals, guitar), Jordan Felion (guitar), Christian Mangrum (bass), Jessie McEnneny (drums).
