Vektor – Outer Isolation

• Country: United States
• Style: Technical thrash metal
• Label: Heavy Artillery Records
• Release date: 22 November 2011

Ten minutes. That’s how long the opener runs, and “Cosmic Cortex” never once lets you get bored. Vektor are from Arizona but sound like they beamed in from a Voivod album cover: sci-fi lyrics, David DiSanto’s piercing shriek, riffs that twist and fold like origami made of razor wire.

Outer Isolation sounds fuller than Black Future, and the bass from Frank Chin actually punches through. “Dying World” slows the pace just enough to feel menacing, and “Dark Creations, Dead Creators” is three and a half minutes of pure whiplash. Neck brace recommended.
