Seven years after The Throne Within, RAM return without their own studio. Black Path Studios has been sold, so Against was cut at Studio Recordia in Varberg with Johan Reivén, who last produced the band on 2009’s Lightbringer. Oscar Carlquist sings and also created the cover artwork, with Harry Granroth and Martin Jonsson on guitars, Tobias Petterson on bass and Morgan Pettersson on drums.
Eleven tracks, 42 minutes, lead single “Ghost Emperor”. The brief is classic heavy metal with speed metal flare-ups, and “One Vs. All” and “Night Blade” hit hardest. A couple of mid-tempo cuts blur together, but the focus rarely slips.
