Sleepless Empire is Lacuna Coil’s tenth studio album and the first since Black Anima in 2019. Bassist Marco Coti Zelati produced it, and the band recorded at SPVN Studios in Como between April and July 2024, around the time longtime guitarist Diego Cavallotti left. Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe and New Years Day’s Ash Costello appear as guests.
The album is noticeably heavier than its predecessors, with Andrea Ferro’s harsh vocals pushed forward alongside Cristina Scabbia. Critics approved: the Metacritic average landed at 82.
