New lineup, same bloodlust. Founding bassist Jon Miller is back for the first time since 2011’s Beast, and he’s brought a whole new crew: guitarists Alex Lee and Gabe Mangold, who also produced it, plus drummer Davier Pérez Ortega. Dez Fafara sits on top of it all, snarling like he’s got a personal grudge against your speakers. Eleventh album, thirteen tracks, no mercy.
Groove, thrash, melodeath leads and even some slam-heavy riffage, all dialled to maximum. It sags a bit after the halfway mark, but the title track and “Dig Your Own Grave” are pure circle-pit fuel.
