Accept – Teutonic Titans 1976-2026 album cover

Fifty years of Accept deserves a party, and Wolf Hoffmann has invited half the metal world. Teutonic Titans 1976-2026 is not a new studio album but a celebration: nineteen classics from the band’s golden decade, from I’m a Rebel through to Eat the Heat, re-recorded by the current lineup with around fifty guests. Zeuss produced, mixed and mastered the lot, and Mark Tornillo remains the anchor voice throughout.

The guest list is ridiculous in the best way. “Fast as a Shark” opens with a Bavarian brass band before Phil Anselmo, Kirk Hammett, Billy Sheehan and Mikkey Dee tear into it. Rob Halford takes on “Balls to the Wall”, Tobias Forge fronts “Save Us”, Hansi Kürsch and Paul Gilbert light up “Losers and Winners”, and John Bush and Alex Skolnick team up for “Up to the Limit”. Every song has a different combination of musicians, so no two tracks sound alike.

Of course, nothing here beats the originals, and at over seventy-five minutes it’s a lot to take in one sitting. But as a tribute to how many musicians Accept inspired, it’s a joy, and the deep cuts from Breaker are a welcome surprise.

Best tracks:

Fast as a Shark (feat. Phil Anselmo, Kirk Hammett, Billy Sheehan, Mikkey Dee)
Balls to the Wall (feat. Rob Halford, Matthias Jabs, Rex Brown, Jason Bowld)
Save Us (feat. Tobias Forge, Frank Bello, Ray Luzier)
Up to the Limit (feat. John Bush, Alex Skolnick, Rudy Sarzo, Shannon Larkin)
