Gone With The Devil is the third album from Athens’ Yoth Iria, following 2021’s As The Flame Withers and 2024’s Blazing Inferno. Bassist and lyricist Jim Mutilator was a founding member of both Rotting Christ and Varathron, and the band name itself first appeared on Rotting Christ’s 1993 debut. The group say they entered the studio aiming to make a landmark record.
The result leans further into classic heavy metal than before, with twin-guitar harmonies and big, melodic solos sitting on top of the Hellenic black metal foundation. Ten songs, all around four to five minutes, keep it tight and accessible without losing the dark atmosphere.
