Diabolical is Destruction’s first album since founding guitarist Mike Sifringer left the band in 2021. Martin Furia stepped in alongside Damir Eskić, and the twin-guitar line-up with Schmier and drummer Randy Black sounds tight and very, very fast.
The title track and “No Faith in Humanity” are classic Teutonic thrash, all barked choruses and whiplash riffing. “State of Apathy”, released as a single back in 2021, still hits hard, and “Tormented Soul” is a welcome change of pace. The middle stretch blurs together, though, and thirteen tracks is at least two too many. Solid, angry, a bit predictable.
