Only a year after Morbidity Triumphant, Chris Reifert and company are back with eleven more songs about rotting, sawing and dying. The title says it all, and so does the Wes Benscoter cover. Greg Wilkinson’s mix is raw and filthy, just the way it should be.
“Rabid Funeral” and “Throatsaw” open at a punky gallop before the band drags everything into the mud, and “Well of Entrails” and the closer “Coagulation” are slow enough to make your teeth ache. Reifert’s vocals are as deranged as ever. There are no surprises here, and a couple of songs in the second half feel like spare parts, but nobody does this sound better.
