Arizona’s finest return with album three, produced by Kurt Ballou at God City. Ten songs, 37 minutes, no fat. Gatecreeper still worship at the altar of Entombed and Bolt Thrower, but this time there’s more melody and more swagger in the mix.
“Dead Star” kicks the door in, “The Black Curtain” has a groove that sticks for days, and “Masterpiece Of Chaos” is pure HM-2 pleasure. Chase Mason sounds meaner than ever. The surprise is closer “Tears Fall From The Sky”, a slow, almost gothic death-doom piece that shows where they could go next. Simple, heavy, fun. Exactly what it should be.
