Warbringer’s sixth album came out on Napalm Records in April 2020, and it’s a record built to be played loud in a sweaty room. Mike Plotnikoff produced it, and it sounds huge without losing the bite.
“Firepower Kills” blows the doors off straight away, and “The Black Hand Reaches Out” and “Crushed Beneath the Tracks” keep the pace savage. John Kevill sounds as unhinged as ever, spitting lyrics like he’s reading out a casualty list. What makes Weapons of Tomorrow more than another fast thrash record is the variety. “Defiance of Fate” takes its time and goes darker, and “Notre Dame (King of Fools)” shows a band that has learned how to build a song rather than just floor it.
Then “Glorious End” brings it all home. Modern thrash doesn’t get much better than this.
