Brothers of Metal

Brothers of Metal were formed in Falun in 2012 with the stated aim of playing “true metal”. Their first song, “Son of Odin”, came out of a night of drinking. The band is unusually large: three vocalists, three guitars, bass and drums, all presented on stage as a group of Viking warriors, with lyrics drawn from Norse myth. That eight-strong format has stayed in place through the band’s line-up changes.

The debut album Prophecy of Ragnarök was self-released in April 2017. It caught the attention of AFM Records, which gave it a worldwide release in November 2018. Reviewers placed it alongside Sabaton, Manowar and Powerwolf, and the mix of Ylva Eriksson’s clean lead vocals with the rougher voices of Joakim Lindbäck Eriksson and Mats Nilsson became the band’s trademark.

Emblas Saga followed on 10 January 2020 through AFM. After the pandemic years the band returned to touring and supported Gloryhammer, together with Arion, on a UK and Ireland tour in September 2022. In January and February 2024 they were special guests on the Glory and the Beast tour, the double headline run by Beast in Black and Gloryhammer across Europe.

The third album, Fimbulvinter, was released on 1 November 2024 on AFM Records, preceded by the singles “Heavy Metal Viking”, “Nanna’s Fate” and the title track. Guitarist Mikael Fehrm is no longer in the band, and Christian Larsson has taken his place on stage as a live guitarist. In March 2026 Brothers of Metal were back on the road in Europe as headliners, including a show at the Legend Club in Milan on 5 March.

Current line-up: Ylva Eriksson (vocals), Joakim Lindbäck Eriksson (vocals), Mats Nilsson (vocals), Pähr Nilsson (guitar), Dawid Grahn (guitar), Emil Wärmedal (bass), Johan Johansson (drums); Christian Larsson (live guitar)
