Vision Divine began in 1998 as a solo project for Olaf Thörsen, who was then playing guitar in Labyrinth. Singer Fabio Lione joined him, and the project soon turned into a band. The name joins Vision, an earlier name of Labyrinth, with Divine, the planned title of Thörsen’s solo album. The self-titled debut Vision Divine came out in 1999, followed by Send Me an Angel in 2002. At the end of 2002 keyboardist Oleg Smirnoff joined the line-up.

Lione left on good terms in 2003, and Michele Luppi took over the microphone. With Luppi the band made Stream of Consciousness (2004), The Perfect Machine (2005), produced by Timo Tolkki of Stratovarius, and The 25th Hour (2007). Luppi left in 2008. Lione came back, the band signed a multi-album deal with Frontiers Records, and 9 Degrees West of the Moon, again produced by Tolkki, was released on 23 January 2009. Destination Set to Nowhere followed in 2012.

Lione announced his second departure in 2018. At the end of that year Vision Divine hired Ivan Giannini, previously the singer of Derdian. When All the Heroes Are Dead came out on Scarlet Records on 25 October 2019, with Mike Terrana on drums. Matt Peruzzi had taken over the drums by the time of Blood and Angels’ Tears, released by Scarlet on 20 September 2024. The band presented that record as the first part of a two-album concept about three angels cast out of heaven.

Giannini left the band in 2024. In 2025 Vision Divine announced that Michele Luppi was returning on vocals, keyboardist Alessio Lucatti left soon after, and Oleg Smirnoff came back in his place. That reunion produced the EP A Clockwork Reverie, released by Scarlet Records on 22 May 2026. It has seven tracks: four new songs and 2026 versions of three older ones, including “God Is Dead” and “The 25th Hour”. Luppi co-produced the EP with Thörsen, co-mixed it with Simone Mularoni and mastered it. The second part of the 2024 concept has not been released yet.

Current line-up: Michele Luppi (vocals), Olaf Thörsen (guitar), Oleg Smirnoff (keyboards), Andrea “Tower” Torricini (bass), Matt Peruzzi (drums)
