Vanishing Point grew out of a Melbourne band called Eye, formed in the early 1990s by guitarist Tommy Vucur, drummer Jack Lukic and bassist Joe Del Mastro. When singer Silvio Massaro and keyboardist Pep Sammartino joined in the mid-1990s, the group took its current name. The debut In Thought was recorded in 1996 and released in Europe in 1997 on the German label Angular Records.
Tangled in Dream (2000) came out internationally through LMP, and that year the band travelled to Germany to play Wacken Open Air. Embrace the Silence (2005) and The Fourth Season (2007) were released by Dockyard 1. Around this time Vanishing Point played a 2005 Melbourne show with Nightwish, supported Iron Maiden in Australia in February 2008 and toured with Helloween the same year.
Founding guitarist Tommy Vucur left in 2010, a hard blow for the band. Massaro and guitarist Chris Porcianko kept it going, and Distant Is the Sun arrived on AFM Records in 2014, seven years after the previous album. Another six years passed before Dead Elysium (2020, AFM), which introduced bassist Gaston Chin and drummer Damien Hall.
Lead guitarist Ande Falko joined in 2025. In September 2026 the band released “Bring Me the Night”, its first new music in six years, followed by “Sirens” in October. Both songs come from Eremition, the seventh studio album, set for release worldwide on 20 November 2026. Massaro and Porcianko remain the band’s longest-serving members.
Current line-up: Silvio Massaro (vocals), Chris Porcianko (guitar), Ande Falko (lead guitar), Gaston Chin (bass), Damien Hall (drums)
