Rammstein was formed in Berlin in January 1994 by vocalist Till Lindemann, guitarists Richard Kruspe and Paul Landers, bassist Oliver Riedel, drummer Christoph Schneider and keyboardist Christian “Flake” Lorenz. The line-up has remained the same ever since.

The debut album Herzeleid appeared in 1995. Its successor Sehnsucht (1997) brought the band’s international breakthrough, and its single “Du hast” earned a Grammy nomination.

Mutter followed in 2001, then Reise, Reise (2004), Rosenrot (2005) and Liebe ist für alle da (2009). After ten years without a new studio record, the band returned in 2019 with an untitled album that topped charts in many countries.

The members also work outside the band. Kruspe leads his own project, Emigrate, and in 2015 Lindemann launched the duo Lindemann with Peter Tägtgren. Zeit, the eighth studio album, was released on 29 April 2022. It grew out of new material written during the pandemic, when the band was unable to tour, and was recorded at La Fabrique Studios in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France, and produced by the band with Olsen Involtini.
