Mors Principium Est

Mors Principium Est was founded in Pori, Finland, in 1999 by singer and lead guitarist Jori Haukio, guitarist Jarkko Kokko and keyboardist Toni Nummelin. Drummer Mikko Sipola joined late that year, Ville Viljanen took over as vocalist in early 2000, and bassist Teemu Heinola came in after the first demo, Before Birth.

The demos caught the attention of the French label Listenable Records, which released Inhumanity (2003), The Unborn (2005) and Liberation = Termination (2007). Haukio left in 2007, and in March 2011 the departures of Tomy Laisto and Kalle Aaltonen left the band in need of new guitarists.

Andy Gillion became lead guitarist in 2011, and the band moved to AFM Records for …and Death Said Live (2012), Dawn of the 5th Era (2014), Embers of a Dying World (2017) and Seven (2020). Gillion left in June 2021, and founding guitarists Jori Haukio and Jarkko Kokko returned the same year. In 2022 the band issued Liberate the Unborn Inhumanity, a collection of re-recorded early material.

Darkness Invisible was recorded in 2024 at Ansa Studio in Ulvila, with all music written by Haukio and the mix handled by Jens Bogren. Preceded by the singles “Of Death” and “All Life Is Evil”, it was released through Perception (Reigning Phoenix Music) in September 2025.
