Grave come from Visby, Sweden, and grew out of an earlier band called Corpse. Guitarist and singer Ola Lindgren was part of the 1991 line-up that recorded their debut.

Their debut album Into the Grave appeared in 1991 and was followed by You’ll Never See… (1992), Soulless (1994) and Hating Life (1996). Grave continued with Back from the Grave (2002), then released Fiendish Regression (2004), As Rapture Comes (2006), Dominion VIII (2008) and Burial Ground (2010).

Endless Procession of Souls, the band’s tenth studio album, was released by Century Media Records on August 27, 2012, in Europe and a day later in North America. It was recorded at the band’s own Studio Soulless, and the cover art was made by Costin Chioreanu.

Grave’s eleventh album, Out of Respect for the Dead, followed on Century Media in October 2015.

In January 2024 bassist Tobias Cristiansson and guitarist Mika Lagrén left the band. Later that year Lindgren announced that the 1991 line-up, with Jörgen Sandström, Jens “Jensa” Paulsson and Jonas Torndal, would reunite to play songs from the first three albums, and the reunited line-up played its first show in Stockholm in April 2025.
