Ghost – Skeletá

August 23, 2025 Published by WeMetalheads
  • Country: Sweden
  • Style: Heavy metal
  • Relase date: 25 April 2025

Ghost’s Skeletá is a bold turn inward—redefining the band’s sound through arena-sized hooks, introspective lyricism, and glam-infused grandeur. Introducing Papa V Perpetua, Tobias Forge shifts the narrative inward, meditating on human vulnerability rather than mythic or political allegory. The album trades some of Ghost’s shadowy theatrics for emotional directness.

While Skeletá doesn’t eclipse the dramatic power of albums like Impera, it stands as Ghost at their most confident and emotionally resonant. Its commercial success—an unprecedented first No. 1 in the U.S.—paired with generally enthusiastic reviews, signals a reinvention rooted in heart, spectacle, and self-reflection.

Machine Head – Unatøned

August 23, 2025 Published by WeMetalheads
  • Country: USA
  • Style: Groove trash metal
  • Relase date: 25 April 2025

Unatøned represents a lean and vigorous chapter in Machine Head’s legacy. Clocking in at just over 41 minutes, it’s their most compact yet focused album—bolstered by the synergy of new guitarist Reece Scruggs and drummer Matt Alston. The sound remains rooted in groove metal, enhanced with melodic intensity and tight production, reflecting a band comfortable in its identity yet eager to push forward.

Reactions to the album are divided. Critics like Metal Hammer praise its relentless urgency and effective integration of new members, calling it “peak Machine Head.” Others offer a more cautious view—Distorted Sound acknowledges strong moments but hints at inconsistencies, while Angry Metal Guy sees the album as front-loaded and lacking coherence.

Ultimately, Unatøned stands as a bold reaffirmation of Machine Head’s mission—raw, direct, and unapologetically heavy, even if it doesn’t please everyone at once. It’s a record that feels like both a restart and a distillation of what the band does best.

Eluveitie – Ànv

August 23, 2025 Published by WeMetalheads
  • Country: Switzerland
  • Style: Folk melodic death metal
  • Relase date: 25 April 2025

Ànv stands as a compelling reaffirmation of Eluveitie’s artistic identity—melding melodic death metal with rich Celtic folk textures. With the introduction of Lea-Sophie Fischer, the album gains fresh folk instrumentation while retaining core band elements: gut-punch metal riffs, dual-vocal contrast, and cultural lyrical threads. Singles like “Premonition”, “The Prodigal Ones”, and the cinematic track “Taranoías” offer a mix of aggression and melody that should satisfy long-time fans.

Critics largely commend the album’s instrumental agility and stylistic consistency, though some die-hards feel it doesn’t break enough new ground. Still, Ànv marks a confident return, bolstered by dynamic live performances and continued evolution of Eluveitie’s sound.

Benediction – Ravage Of Empires

August 23, 2025 Published by WeMetalheads
  • Country: United Kingdom
  • Style: Death metal
  • Relase date: 4 April 2025

Ravage of Empires is Benediction’s triumphant reassertion of old-school death metal excellence. Sitting comfortably in the legacy of their early 1990s releases, the album forges forward with precision and raw energy. Produced with clarity by Scott Atkins, its eleven tracks pulsate with brooding riffs, tight grooves, and ravaging vocal delivery. Highlights like Engines of War, Deviant Spine, and the commanding title track embody the band’s trademark brutality, while still offering subtle melodic depth. Though it may not reinvent the wheel, the album serves as a powerful, headbanging celebration of Benediction’s identity—an offering that both longtime fans and newcomers can rally behind.

In The Woods… – Otra

August 23, 2025 Published by WeMetalheads
  • Country: Norway
  • Style: Progressive black metal
  • Relase date: 11 April 2025

Otra captures In The Woods… at their most introspective yet assured. Rooted in personal and geographical symbolism, the album flows like the Otra river—melodic, contemplative, and unhurried. With clean, expressive vocals and precision-crafted compositions, the band builds atmospheric soundscapes that feel both immersive and emotionally resonant. While threads of their black metal origins linger beneath the surface, Otra embraces a refined elegance—melding folk, progressive, and avant-garde metal into a rich, deeply rewarding experience.

Arch Enemy – Blood Dynasty

August 23, 2025 Published by WeMetalheads
  • Country: Sweden
  • Style: Melodic death metal
  • Relase date: 28 March 2025

Blood Dynasty is an assured, sometimes divisive fifth album featuring Alissa White-Gluz. Armed with an invigorated lineup and a fresh production approach from Jens Bogren, Arch Enemy reinforce their melodic death metal identity while experimenting with subtleties of power, groove, and even blues-inflected melodies (“Vivre Libre” notably stands out). It strikes a chord between delivering classic, crowd-fueling tracks like “Dream Stealer” and offering unexpected depth through its cover and evolving songcraft.

Reactions vary: die-hard fans and reviewers laud its crisp energy and playstyle consistency, while others yearn for broader innovation or cohesion. Regardless, Blood Dynasty stands as a testament to Arch Enemy’s enduring relevance and capacity for both maturity and metal fury.

Warbringer – Wrath And Ruin

August 23, 2025 Published by WeMetalheads
  • Country: USA
  • Style: Trash metal
  • Relase date: 14 March 2025

Wrath and Ruin sees Warbringer evolve both thematically and musically. Steeped in sharp social commentary—from class oppression to techno-feudal dystopia—Kevill’s songwriting propels the band into more ambitious territory. Musically, the album marries razor-sharp thrash with darker and more intricate influences: sprawling songs like “Cage of Air” and “Through a Glass, Darkly” stretch the genre’s contours, while straightforward tracks like “Strike from the Sky” deliver visceral, high-velocity impact.

Critics largely celebrate the album as a reinvigorated and mature iteration of Warbringer’s sound. Praise centers on its depth, production quality, and bold experimentation. Yet, opinions are divided on its cohesion—some find the ambitious moments shine, while others feel the album wavers under the weight of its longer, more complex compositions.

All in all, Wrath and Ruin stands as a significant release in Warbringer’s discography: a fearless confrontation with modern decay wrapped in thrash intensity and renewed artistry.

Cradle Of Filth – The Screaming Of The Valkyries

August 23, 2025 Published by WeMetalheads
  • Country: United Kingdom
  • Style: Symphonic extreme metal
  • Relase date: 21 March 2025

The Screaming of the Valkyries reaffirms Cradle of Filth’s mastery over dark, theatrical metal. Seamlessly merging symphonic grandiosity, thrash energy, and gothic drama, the album serves both as a retrospective of their stylistic evolution and a forward-moving statement. With the first-wave punch of “To Live Deliciously,” hauntingly beautiful balladry of “White Hellebore,” and epic resonance of “When Misery Was a Stranger,” it delivers a rollercoaster of emotion, brutality, and melodic craftsmanship.

While some tracks and choices spark debate—particularly regarding cohesion and direction—the overall tone is one of heavy, assured performance. Reviews range from solid praise to raving endorsement, and fans generally echo that it’s a worthy—and enjoyable—new chapter in Cradle’s legacy.

Whitechapel – Hymns In Dissonance

August 23, 2025 Published by WeMetalheads
  • Country: USA
  • Style: Deathcore
  • Relase date: 7 March 2025

Hymns in Dissonance is Whitechapel’s fiercest statement in years, a deliberate plunge into darkness and brutality that feels both rooted and revitalized. A purely crushing concept album about a satanic cult and the seductive power of dissonant evil, it ditches melodic detours for unapologetic savagery. With three guitars unleashing crushing riffs, Philips Bozeman proclaiming pulp fiction-inspired lyrics, and Zach Householder steering production, the album feels unapologetically heavy and creatively coherent.

Despite some claims of lacking innovation, the overwhelming critical and fan consensus finds it is a triumphant return to form—packed with bone-crushing energy, thematic heft, and songwriting sophistication. It stands as one of Whitechapel’s most potent and unified albums to date, bridging the fury of their early work with their proficiency of the present.

Killswitch Engage – This Consequence

August 23, 2025 Published by WeMetalheads
  • Country: USA
  • Style: Metalcore
  • Relase date: 21 February 2025

This Consequence marks a powerful chapter for Killswitch Engage—melding nostalgia with renewed energy. After a six-year hiatus, the band returned to hands-on, collaborative creation, resulting in an album that feels both inspired and familiar. Lyrically rich and emotionally direct, Jesse Leach channels frustration, optimism, and shared human experience through razor-sharp hooks and aggressive riffs. Although some critics flagged the production as overly compressed and the songwriting as formulaic, the album resonates as a confident reaffirmation of their melodic metalcore identity. Tracks like Forever Aligned and Collusion underscore the band’s ability to fuse heartfelt messaging with heavy musicality, proving that even after decades, Killswitch Engage can still deliver stirring, anticipatory power.

THIS IS INFECTED RAIN!
Modern metalcore from Moldova, founded in 2008. Infected Rain is a true example of how success can be achieved through hard work and determination. It doesn't matter if you come from a small and poor country. Their story and growth is truly amazing. Starting from touring in small clubs, to playing on big stages, they’ve come a long way. They have an amazing fan base that has supported them from the first live until today. And the fan base is growing at a crazy pace.

Their debut album was released in 2012 and was immediately well received by fans. Greater success came with the release of the album “86” in 2017, which opened the doors to much larger stages.
Infected Rain’s music is extremely distinctive and layered. Their songs are always structured in an interesting way, combining melodic sections with incredibly powerful riffs. Their charismatic vocalist, Elena Cataraga aka Lena Scissorhands, has an astonishing vocal range — performing both melodic parts and intense, aggressive screams. Lena is also known as a warm-hearted person, very friendly and always happy to connect with fans. She has supporters all around the world.

In 2023, a new bass player, the very talented Alice Lane, joined the band. The band also features long-time drummer Eugene Voluta and very energetic guitarist Vadim Ozhog aka Vidick.

Infected Rain's latest album "Time" was released in 2024. This album was very well received. Album of the Year 2024 reached a high 10th place on the Wemetalheads.com portal.
